The school house in Bhatpal where Betsy Schuyler and I lived for the first months we worked among the Halbi speakers of India. The room at the left was the one we used. The little window at the left led to a room where a meal of wheat and meal was cooked each day for the children to eat. This picture was taken when we were first in Bhatpal and the crowd of people was typical. The roof was full of holes and leaked profusely when it rained.
