Hello my name is Fran and I am from Australia...
.:. my life
I was born in Newcastle, NSW a very long time ago. My first home was at Toronto on the shores of beautiful Lake Macquarie. When I was 7 we moved to the small village of Blackalls Park just 1 mile from Toronto.
Blackalls Park, also, was located on the shores of Lake Macquarie. Later again we moved to an orchard and chook farm closer to Toronto.
My life and work have taken me to many places in the world -- Papua New Guinea, India, Nepal, New Zealand, USA, Thailand, and now retirement back in Australia.
I have been a school teacher (elementary and ESL), a linguist, a photographer, a university professor. While all have been challenging occupations I have enjoyed myself immensely. I am very glad to have had the opportunity to do so many things and to live in so many places.
.:. next stage of life
The next stage of my life is quite an adventure. I am not going to sit and vegetate, rather I've bought a couple of acres in the small village of Majors Creek. This is 16kms south of Braidwood in the Southern Tablelands of NSW. My original goal was to build a small retreat centre where people couild come for refreshment and renewal, spend time alone with God, and receive prayer. I have a house for me to live in, then the plan was for a couple of cabins and a prayer room/chapel. Lack of finances have hindered the progress of this dream. Then with COVID that was it. The dream remains but it won't be for me to see its fulfilment. The soil is good and things have grown nicely, except for droughts and flooding rains which have had a rather devastating effect. All my peppermint gums have died from too much rain. God has been encouraging me all along the way.
Phase1, my house is complete and I've been living here for 15 years now.
Phase 2, the retreat cabins are still on the drawing board. The local council approved the plans so at the right time things will move forward.
God has been so good to me!
